Late reply because life (fixing 3 other cars put the FL on the back burner )It's very unusual for the HG to fail on a TD4.
Even more unusual to loose coolant without the coolant coming out the pressure cap, or the coolant reservoir exploding. The compression pressure on these is almost 400 PSI, so if it's not blowing coolant out the reservoir, you might need to investigate the coolant loss again.
The EGR cooler is a common place for coolant to enter the combustion chamber.
However the white burnt smelling smoke remains around 1750k revs.
Yeah feels like a missfire, just between the 1750-2000 rev mark. Car needs putting through it mot but the smoke has me concerned it has been parked up for a fair while now too so could just need a good run/blow through but I’m trying to not smoke out the neighbourhoodDoes it splutter too? If so it's commonly known as the 2 k misfire, which can happen under light throttle on some TD4 engines between 1700 and 2200 RPM. It's often accompanied by white to blue-ish smoke, and has no definitive cure.
That's the 2k misfire that this engine can suffer, some not all. There's no definitive cure, but I've a suspicion it's to do with oil contamination from the breather circuit. I never got round to testing it on mine though, as the gearbox failed before I had a chance, then I got the FL2, so the FL1 was sold with a broken gearbox.Yeah feels like a missfire, just between the 1750-2000 rev mark.
Mine never failed the MOT on emissions, actually it was pretty clean on the MOT smoke test.Car needs putting through it mot but the smoke has me concerned
last mot, i watched the tester check the emissions.Car needs putting through it mot but the smoke has me concerned
