Hi there, i'm new to this forum and owning a Rangy!

I have a nice R-reg 4.6l V8 Rangy, but have broken it already! Managed to leave windows and sunroof open one afternoon, and we had quite a heavy shower, which of course rained onto the seats and the middle panel of buttons that controls windows/sunroof. I closed them all once i realised, but later that evening and ever since then (about 5 days ago) i cant open the electric windows or sunroof. :( The buttons wont work.

My dad took it all apart for me, and the little switchboard/circuitboard that controls the buttons obviously isnt working, so went to a scrapyard where they had one come off a Rangy they were breaking, plugged that one in, but still didnt work.

I was just wondering if anybody knew what the next step is, and whether you can just buy a new central console switch pack and plug it in, or whether you would need to 're-tune'/program something?

Would like to get my windows working again, without paying a grand to a garage to fix it!!!

Thank you in advance, hope someone can help!

Hi'

I've got a 97 2.5 dt Range Rover which I'm certain has the same switch pack fitted. I went to a 4x4 garage to have mine put on the diagnostic tester because I had a lot of other faults as well and it cost 50 pounds plus vat. They will work the windows and roof via the diagnostic machine which will tell you if the switch pack is at fault.

If so, Rimmer do one for just over a hundred pounds plus delivery and they usually deliver in 24 hours. If it blew the fuses due to the water then two or three would have gone at the same time (these are located by the side of the drivers seat)

I fitted mine two weeks ago and it works fine so your more than welcome to pop down and I can put mine on and try it for you. (I live near Ross on Wye in Herefordshire)
If you live far away from me then a 4x4 garage with diagnostic equipment or another forum member may be your only answer.

If you have to fit a new one all you have to do is open windows all the way down and then close them one by one and the same with the sunroof making sure you tilt it as well. I had to do mine a few times before the warning lights, bells whistles and buzzers stopped driving me mad!

Thanks for reply, i am in Salisbury, Wilts, any other members near here that know of the answer to the question or can help?!

I went to a scrapyard to buy one but it didnt work when plugged it in. I can buy the switch pack off ebay or something, but didnt know if there was something you had to program as well as just putting the new switch pack in? I suppose 4x4 garage is next stop. Have checked all fuses - not them.

Shouldnt have left sunroof open in rain i suppose, but i am blonde!!
