benpalmer Well-Known Member Jan 14, 2013 #9 Use DOT 4 or above. Look at the cap on the brake fluid reservoir that should tell you. IIRC the DOT rating is the fire retardance offered by the oil. The newer, the more fire retardant the oil the higher the DOT rating.
