hi all
can any one help here
my landy 90 300tdi 1995 ,has an awful squeal when driving ,comes on after 20mph,, then goes when going faster ,when im stationary and rev the landy it doesnt make a noise only when driving
so obviously i cant see were its coming from because it comes on when driving ,,it has a new belt and tensioner on
thinking its either a wheel bearing or prop shaft i regulary grease the prop shaft on the nipples
HELP! STARTING TO DO MY HEAD IN

Put it in neutral or depress the clutch while driving above that speed and let the rpms drop. If the sound changes with the lower revs it's lump related. If not, then it's something else involving drive train rotation.

Check the tension on both the fan belt and the power steering belt.

They squeal when they're not happy!! ;) ;)

Don't forget the handbrake drum and internal mechanism. Mine was squeaking a great deal and I spent some time looking at all the moving parts such as wheel bearings and propshafts, as well as whether the exhaust could be rubbing on the chassis. Eventually I zeroed in on the handbrake as the guilty party. New shoes and a spring kit have made it much quieter.

hi guys
just been out to listen ,,the noise sounds like DONT LAUGH ! budgies,,LOTS ,,,
cant make out if its coming from underneath me thats the only trouble with older landys luv em to death but they do ya head in some times they just dont give you a clue

Prop shaft UJ's. Mine sounded like a whole flock of Budgies even though moving them by hand indicated there was no play. There was though and I'd nearly worn through one of the journals before the budgies became unbearable.

+1 !!
Props tend to chirp when they aren't happy
