Hi,

I have just bought a snatch direct from withams, this car has cost me 1200 quid including VAT.

It was reconditioned in 2007 and appears to have not been used since then. The recon appears to have included a recon engine.

However after getting it back to the garage, I see that it is missing both alternators (I am very new to this and didn't spot that. Doh!!). The garage guy looked pretty disappointed although he was trying to be positive about it. Here are some photos of the underside.

Since buying this I have seen a snatch that is already taxed mot'd and registered and I am thinking it might be best to just go with this one.

Here are some pictures of the underside of the one that is ready to go.

I am thinking of buying this other one that is on the road and selling on the one that I have bought, although I will probably lose a few hundred quid shifting it on quick but I don't have the space to store it waiting for the right price.

Could anyone offer any advice?

Does the one on the road look ok?

It has a new engine and gearbox I am told and the pictures suggest that is correct, the suspension, brake callipers and many running gear parts look like they were all covered in its final recon. The owner has fitted a new drive shaft as it had the ubiquitous bent shaft.

Second one has a leaking swivel hub but other then that it is a far better vehicle going by the photos. The first one looks totally unloved and a lot of work to get it into shape. The rust may only be on the surface but then again it may not.

mate the first one looks like it needs a full strip , shot blast and rebuild , the second looks like with a bit of tlc it could be a nice thing , and its allready ready to rock n roll , excuse me if im wrong but if u have no space to store it id imagen space to restore it would be tight too ? in which case its a bit of a no brainer , number 2 all the way

yes sell first buy second first has been stood near sea water or in shed full of fertiliser ,it would cost alot more than you would loose to put anywhere near right

Thanks for the replies guys. The second one does look better although it is quite a bit more expensive I think it would be cheaper for me in the long run because I am paying to have the work done.

Was a bit nervous, although it clearly looks better, I could have been missing something that the experienced eye would spot.

Have put the other on ebay already as it is clearly a non starter for me. Wish I had some yard or garage space like many of you lucky people.

Again thanks for the help guys. Wish me luck with snatch number 2. Hope I dont have too many more BIG lessons to learn.
