I changed my auto gearbox on my 3.9 a few months ago as it lost all drive ( but it had done 172000 miles ) Yesterday, after about 1000 miles of use, most of which was a run to plymouth and back the replacement box broke. I can get reverse and weirdly I can also get reverse if it's put in first gear but I can't get forward drive. The fluid is black and stinks. I'm fairly sure the box I bought was already on it's way out.
I'm fedup of putting auto boxes in. They're heavy, they use alot of fuel and when they break it's prohibitively expensive to repair them and after 2 failures I just don't trust them and can't rely on them.
I've decided to do a manual conversion so I'd love to hear from anyone who has done this, anyone can tell me the bits I'd need to convert etc and (here's hoping) anyone who might have any of the bits kicking around that they'd care to donate to a now skint landy owner
