Why do you say that??
Because I had only seen them as "industrial" engines here, we had vm's running pumping units generators, lighting plants and powering fishing trawlers.
But as said, when I test drove the rrc back in '88 I was most impressed, more recently helping my mate to transplant the vm into his County I have a great respect for that little turbo diesel.
 
I believe LR toyed with the idea of fitting the 5 cylinder 3.1 litre VM into the range rover before going with the 2.4, now to me thats the engine they should have gone with.

But it wouldn't have been good to have the dozzel quicker and better than the v8 would it:rolleyes:

They did, there was one for sale on The Bay last year.On reflection it was a six cylinder version.
 
the car had a VM 2.4 after all. The seller was just not so infomed or trying to lie about it. Thanks for the help anyway.
