Dear All,

Please help im in need of a top mechanic (or someone that knows landys like the back of his hand and wants to earn a bob or two) that can supply and fit an alternator to my dead V8 3.9 Disco, she is in Biggin Hill, (Kent).
She has sat for about 7 months now and i want her back!!!

Shaking Disco TD5!

Please can you all help, I have just bought a T/99 Discovery Td5, all good so far, but, at 55mph she gets a violent shake.
Only in 4th gear and only under load and only on flat roads, if im going up hill or round long sweeping bends she dont do it.
I do know its not Tyres, Tracking or Wheel balancing.
Any thoughts?

did you check your panhard rod bushes they can be a cause of death wobble.

steering damper?

track rod ends?

The entire Disco shakes at 55, not the steering, :-(

any noises? clicking, grinding?

prop ujs maybe?

is odd that it only happens in one gear but im sure someone on here will be able to help you.

Nope, no noise's clunks, just a gentle vibrate at 50, then a horrid one at 55, Uj's being looked at next thursday.
Fingers crossed.
I will also print this out for the Garage bloke, so thanks again mate!

hey stuart. i too live in biggin hill. when i was after advice on buying my td5, i was pointed in the direction of bhm. i never use garages as i generally don`t trust them, but i went and had a chat with them. i spoke to a guy called dave who i found to be very helpful and knowledgeable. got to be worth a try. 01959 57550.
