When it won't start, have you used a multi-meter at the stop solenoid to see what voltage you get there?

Something that melts in hot weather in the fuel? You might laugh but my last everyday car was great in cold weather. Unfortunately some numpty had put car wax or something in the washers. I cleaned the system out 3 times but it still covered my windscreen in ****e if I used the washers on a hot day

Had something similar happen with my NA, and to check what was 9not0 happening, I ran a bit of wire between the battery +ive and the pump solenois and she fired up immediately.
Check the wiring between the starter switch and the solenoid as it could be a failing relay.
