fuel solenoid or running on own oil.
keep a co2 extinguisher to hand
Running on own oil? not sure what you mean. Right - either way it needs sorting - I shall investigate, thanks for narrowing it down.
HiWould that not be the fuel solenoid? I am not familiar with the newer engines but I believe all diesels will run on without a fuel shut off as no ignition is required....
Hi
Don’t think the Puma has a solenoid - I had someone suggest a wiring problem....perhaps in the break lights
oh crap - that sounds serious!? Its only done 72K miles - is this one of those 'dont drive unless you have to' deals? any known causes for this engine?
Not a runaway either - this is an electrical fault. I have seen loads of people with a similar issue.....runaways are rare.
HiThanks, that is helpful. Will take to garage man. Just what i need at the moment!
egr can be disabled thru remap.I have had the EGR valve stick and then fix itself. Had a break light go, but was just a bulb and have replaced it.
My defender has done 67000. It seems a common problem but it’s different wiring issues. Some scary comments on here! I am driving still. A runaway does not need the ignition and it’s not about the electrics but other problems.....also rare! It’s easy to scare.oh crap - that sounds serious!? not scaring - just making aware. My defender has done 67000. It seems a common problem but it’s different wiring issues. Some scary comments on here! I am driving still. A runaway does not need the ignition and it’s not about the electrics but other problems.....also rare! It’s easy to scare.
Cheers sounds sensibleThe brake pedal has two switches, one for the brake light and one connected to the ECM. Not sure what the one connected to the ECM does, but half recollect that it reduces engine power when the brakes are applied (as said, not sure). I suspect this switch is faulty enabling the engine to run on until the brake pedal is pushed. Its a possibility.
