I've just bought my first discovery 300TDi and whenever I set my alarm either with the key or using the fob the alarm goes off after about 5 minutes. I can't understand why as the doors and windows are closed and there's no one near it??

Please help

OK - first go to the 'introduce yourself section' and get that out the way ... :)

Your alarm is not 'setting' because something is wrong - sounds silly but bear with me ...

When you 'unlock' does it 'beep' twice?

If so, one of the sensors is not setting correctly -

Try the bonnet one first ... open the bonnet, look on the nearside inner wing, there should be a switch ...

has it been bent at all, it should be at 90degrees to the inner wing so when the bonnet is shut, it holds the switch down ...

If not, you have to work you way round the car checking the switches and sensors to find which one isn't working ...

Happy hunting ...:D

oh, yeah ...

:welcome: by the way ...

I meant to do the newbie part first, was in a rush as stupid alarm kept going off.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try that today n keep you posted, how can I check if a sensor is/isn't working?

Well I checked the bonnet and taped the switch down which seems to have solved it, for a couple days, now it's started again. I've tested all the boot, bonnet and door sensors and they all seem fine.

Any ideas??

Something's probably over sensitive, mine gets twitchy in the cold, may need replacing but I couldn't tell you what with
