Hello, can anyone please help? Just done the head gaskets
On my 97 4.6 now it won't start it just clicks like a flat battery
Or knackered starter, it will sometimes turn over very
Slowly then stops and just clicks again.
I've checked all elec connections they seem fine the battery is
Is fully charged, I've changed the starter motor
and the engine spins freely by hand.

I am now totally at a loss.

Thanks Geoff

Engine Earth Straps??

Fuse Box Connections??

Starter Relay??

Corroded Cabling to the Starter??

Earth on back of offside head not connected? Or is that only on the THOR motors

Cheers for the help it was the engine to body earth,
It's a dark art to me this elastictrickery.
Again thanks for your help

Does this mean I win a prize??? :D

Yep, to collect it stand outside Victoria station at 10 PM on Sunday, wearing pink trousers, a pink shirt, a pink jacket with a pink rose in your lapel. And one hand on your hip. :p:D:D

You're lucky it didn't have a good enough earth to energise the solenoid and attempt to start. Pulling the starter current through the rest of the incidental wiring could have blown countless ecus and fuses.

Discos with a bad engine earth usually earth through the hand brake cable, melting the inner nylon liner. Handbrake becomes somewhat stiff. That's if you can move it at all. :D:D
