ok folks this is it, i need help some of you might have read that im having air suspension probs. im gutted i finally get the car of my dreams, ready for the mrs having a baby due on 20th feb. i spend every penny ive got to buy the RR i always wanted and now its unusable.
is there anyone who can tell me the cheapest possible way to get hold of some replacement air springs cos i think thats what it needs.
ive already replaced the compressor and had the faults cleared but now its not saying theres an eas fault its just sat on the bump stops with the access level light on and the light for whatever height i try to select flashing. i just dont get it it was perfect for one day then it webnt down again and wont go back up.
all it says is an alternator fault but i cant see this effecting the eas, any help would be really appreciated if anyones got some cheap air springs or knows somewhere please tell me cos im screwed without it running

thanks folks

If your exhaust leaking ? Reason I ask is that it is common for a leaking exhaust to send hot gases onto the airlines that feed the rear airsprings - which then burst and lose ALL the compressed air.As the Ecu needs to see a 70 % rise on the rear before it tries to raise the front, nothing happens and the compressor pumps to atmosphere. You cant hear the air leaking over the noise of the cars exhaust.
Where are you ?

Hi all.
Some else explained that as an issue(my indy landy dealer), Do listen to eightinavee he knows you see. See if you can get it on some ramps, tricky but possible and spot the problem.
I'm in Dudley, if you need free help at the weekend let me know and i'll see if i can help. (and i have some ramps.)

Cheers, Nick.

mate that would be wonderful cos if i dont get it sorted really cheaply im gonna have to get rid of it and ill be devastated

the suspension wont go up while the alt fault is still there ! mine does this sometimes ,i turn it off restart it the alt fault clears and suspension goes up ! fault is elec not air hope this helps

Hi.
So every time the alternator fault comes back the suspension wont work because off this? Which means we have to find that fault or he could be stuck anywhere.

Cheers Nick.

I take it its a P38 and not a classic. P38 is bad for electrical problems bad earths or corosion in connectors. However it there has also been P38's that when they go down to bump stops won't rise again until jacked up off bump stops.
Have fun and remeber dealers usually charge a lot to fix this type of problem as it takes time to go around connectors and earths etc.

Hi jae.
Did you get anywhere with your prob or do we need to talk on the phone?

Cheers, Nick.

just to keep you posted, spoke to nick today and went thru some things and hes coming to have a look on sunday. hopefully it will be a little thing (fingers crossed) but we will soon find out

Its nice to see members helping each other, shame ther's not more willing. Lets know the outcome as its always nice to hear, learn somthing new everyday.

funnily enough my P38 did exactly the same yesterday. stared up, and alt fault came on. Suspension ights flash and it didt rise. I just shut down and restarted. The alt fault cleared and the suspension worked. dont quite understand why the alt fault came on apart from I normally blip the throtle after starting, just a habit. Yesterday I didnt.

Hi all, espescialy Jae.
I need to know the year of your range please, if you dont answer i'l phone later.
Cheers, Nick.

Its always a good idea to check the battery voltage, a slight drop can cause all kinds of wierd and wonderful messages to come up - I am sure a lot of you have seen the "Gearbox fault" warning after some heavy cranking on the starter.

hi nick its a 95. just to let you know the alt fault message has disappeared but still got same prob. been checking as many things as poss since i got back at 4pm but havn't spotted any problems. gonna recheck something with the compressor while i can still see outside and ill let you know if theres any changes

According to my little disc the alt has to fire voltage to pin 15 on the becm to prove its charging, so it may that which is not sending/earthing properly. Any way let me now how you go.
Cheers, Nick.

hi everyone...........its alive, my god its alive.
changed the compressor back to the original one and started it up and it just started to rise and now it seems fine, i just dont get it.
if the original comp was ok and it just needed the faults taking of how come it had faults in the first place?????
nick ill check if youve read this or not later, if not ill call you, dont know if you still wanna come to check her over or not so just let me know

I think that if it is working see how it goe over the next few days. If it messes you about and you need me to come and look its really no problem. I think that the Becm will register so many faults and then say thats it , i give up. But thats good news that its working.

Cheers, Nick.

Hi Jae.
Regards petrol mapping i'll speak to my gas guy who gave me the info on my truck and see what he says and let you know as soon as i find out. Then we'll go and see if we can get it stuck somewhere one weekend.

Cheers, Nick.
