Good morning all. This is my 1st post on the forum although I have frequently visited the site as a guest & found all the info offered by existing members extremely interesting & helpful. One of the main reasons for not joining sooner is that I have had a relatively stress free 2 years of driving my P38!!! However, on Thursday it decided to not start displaying the message 'ENGINE DISABLED USE REMOTE'.
Now, I have viewed lots of threads with similar issues with some great advice but not found a solution to what I'm experiencing so I will attempt to give as much information as possible & apologies for length of thread....
I live in colchester, essex & I have 98 P38 LPG 4.0 SE. Since I have owned it, it has always had alarm fault on the dash but the fob has locked & unlocked the car. When the battery got low I changed the batteries & it continued to work.
In June however, I walked out to unlock car & nothing. No light in key fob & no flashing alarm light in car. It appeared both car battery & fob battery had gone at same time with my alarm armed! I dealt with this by replacing car battery & fob batteries & using the forum for advice & all seemed ok again.
However, about 3 weeks later the fob would not unlock my car, it did eventually, so since then I have used my key to manually lock & unlock it with no further problems until a week ago when even doing this I got into it late at night & went to start it & got the message 'engine disabled'. On this occasion I took the key out & put it back in & she fired. This happened in Sainsbury car park in Colchester, where I work. I am not aware of any radio towers or masts in area & always use the station to fill up.
In the following week no further issues but on Thursday, I put some petrol in, again at Sainsburys on a different area of the site & I have the 'engine disabled, press remote message' displayed when I go to drive off. Having had this message a week earlier I tried taking the key out & putting in again but no luck.
Having read the threads it's worth me saying that the central locking works fine & the interior lights come on too. I read this rules out the micro switch in the door??
Using the forum,
-I have tried putting my EKA code in but this doesn't work & I get no flashing lights after each sequence,
-I have tried disconnecting battery for a period of time which doesn't work.
-I have tried leaving it for a day for it to sort itself out but no joy
-I have also tried pressing unlock part of fob at rear of vehicle on the aerial part of the drivers side window.
Is there anything else I can do?
I appreciate those are still with me but I wanted to give you all as much detail to help you help me.
To summise I have a P38 which has engine disabled message, I have a key fob with the lights flashing when you press the buttons but has only unlocked car intermittently in the last 3 weeks but does nothing now, my central locking unlocks all doors including boot & I have had to manually lock & unlock car using key which still works fine now but will not mobilise the car.
Many thanks & I will read & respond to any replies as soon as I can but I work retail hours so unfortunately these can be unfriendly, like today, a 13-21 shift!
Regards
