Ive recently had suspension issues ( inactive error message ) an with further investigating i believe my OSR sensor is broken. Ive decided to replace all 4 of them while we are changing brakes, servicing amongst other things. Can anyone give me any advice about these eg is there anything to look out for, anything particular that needs to be done during or after the change etc etc ? Im also checking other sensors and tracking the car as now an then the ABS/HDC warning comes up. Thanks in advance:D

Should be a straight unbolt - replace... clean the multiplugs with Electrical Contact cleaner be reassembly...

Also, you'll need to have the EAS recalibrated following the fitment of the new sensors.

As for the HDC/ABS warning - that could either be a symptom of the EAS fault - or one of the ABS sensors or wiring is duff....I had similar and traced it to a broken ABS wire where it rubs on the inside of the wheel rim....

Thanks for reply mate when u say recallibrated wat does that entail ??? The suspension was lowered via the ecu by the previous owner will this be lost ???

The height sensors are not precision made and also on fitment you won't get them in the exact same place as the old ones.....this means the reading they send to the EAS ecu will be different to the old ones and as such the ride height and balance will be out.

You will need to recalibrate the EAS system so the ecu knows what the new sensors are reading at different ride heights, this needs to be done on diagnostics....

PIMP LOL ! TBH it rides HELL of alot better than standard it was only lowered by 35mm on the rear and 40mm on the front an now it looks more level instead on sat down on the rear. but by the sounds of it when i fit the new sensors i take it all those settings will be gone ?

No the EAS will still try to sit at the height you have selected BUT the height sensor readings will be different to the originals as they are not precision devices and the readings will vary....

Remember the Sensors measure the difference in height from the suspension links to the subframe and not from the floor....

As such if the original sensor had a reading of 125points at standard. the EAS system will strive to achieve 125points on the new sensor....BUT 125points on the new sensor may be in a different position than the original (as they are not precision) so you may find that corner sits higher or lower....

Once you have fitted the sensors, you will need to recalibrate the ride heights to ensure the EAS ECU knows the settings of the new height sensors...once you have had it recalibrated back to normal you can then adjust the ride height settings to be your 'pimped' ride once again....(although this is not how the suspension geomemetry was designed and as such could be deemed illegal) .....

But you WILL need to get the new sensors recalibrated first....

Thank you for the info its good to know people who know !!! The sensors arrive at landrover tomoz so will get them fitted then take it for callibration. will let you know how i get on thanks again !!

how long does recalibration take and how much would a typical price be ? (p38 )

DIY on the P38 with the EAS cable and software, dead easy, allow about an hour first time you do it:) Cable & CD with EAS software, airbag replacement guide and a copy of RAVE £11 plus P&P:D
