The heating in my D2 seems really strange, but I don't know if I just don't know how to use it properly.

Basically it starts blowing cold air from the front vents very quickly; sometimes I cant get any warm from them at all until I turn it up to 26+. But it always blows hot at my feet just fine.

Am i just thick?

Climate control doing its thing in the readjustment of temperature, my car is just the same, so I just close the dash vents or switch over to manual controlled, recirculate.

The first time that my heater started blowing cold air I did think that I had a serious cooling problem but then I realised that the cab was up to the temperature set on the climate control and it was "just doing its thing"

Its kinda bizarre that "doing its thing" means blowing cold air as soon as it just barely hits temperature. I don't think that my desired comfort temperature is around 26-28 degrees, but that's where I have to set it to stop this happening. But I guess I just have to get used to it... and draughtproof some doors haha.

Perhaps you have a fault in your system with one of the temperature sensors being iffy. I believe D2s have a user diagnostic procedure.

1 - Turn ignition OFF.
2 - On the climate control panel, press and hold both AUTO and Air Distribution buttons.
3 - While holding these buttons down, switch ignition ON to position 2.
4 - Keep holding the buttons for 4-5 beeps and let go. The fault code (FC) results will be shown on the right side of the screen.

00 - no faults
11 - in car temp sensor fault
12 - ambient sensor fault
13 - thermistor fault
14 - heater coolant sensor fault
*21 - left sunlight sensor fault - open or shorted
*22 - right sunlight sensor fault - open or shorted
31 - left servo motor
32 - right servo motor
33 - distribution servo motor

you will get fault codes 21 & 22 if you don't do the test in direct sunlight.

Tha manual diagnostic check is relevant only if the unit beeps and displays a code for 20 secs after the ignition was turned on or if you want to check the sunlight sensors otherwise all codes might be just hystorical, it's explained in the first paragraph:
