both fans are not working how do i check the relay is working? the relay has the numbers 1/2/3 and 5 next to the terminals

There are 2 relays, 6 & 7, swap them with others of the same colour, check for blueing/burning on the connectors and for a smell of burning in the fuse box. Check fuses 34 & 43.

1995 p38 2.5 heater fans not working fuses seem to be ok what and how is the next thing to check

take them both out (about 1/2 an hour each) and strip them back to take the bushes out.

Look at them and see if they are knackered if so replace. Otherwise just remove (watch the springs) hoover out the carbon dust out of the internals and bush housing and try on a spare battery before refitting.

Worked with mine when i thought both were knackered with relays and fuses fine.

still no joy :(
swapped relays checked fuses plugged in other blower motor nothing happening
tried to find a positive in the plug that plugs into motor but could only find a negative
any other suggestions on what to try

Look at the wiring diagram in RAVE, do the relays operate? If they do not it could be the HEVAC unit, check with a meter to see if the HEVAC signal is there to operate the relay. You could also try putting a live feed on relay pin 5 to see if the motors operate.

As I said, check the control signal from the HEVAC is there to operate the relay. The problem is most likely the fuse box knackered.
