Torty

Hi All,
Just a quick question, the warranty is about to run out on my td4, but have just noticed only half the heated front screen works, the half in front of the passenger!!! - typical:rolleyes: dont know if its ever had a replacement screen as have only had it for 3 months. would it be covered by the warranty or not? (if not will have to think about moving the steering wheel and have a left hand drive gaylander!:D ).

Many thanks.

Warranty will cover it, get it to a dealer before the warranty runs out. Land rover will normally pay 100% up to 2 months after warranty expires but get it in asap just to be sure.

I had my screen replaced under warrenty at no cost to me.

I had similar problem but neither side of the screen would heat. Got it done before warrenty ran out.

Shame the car is an 04 and its now out of warrenty. I'm just waiting for the bills to come rolling in.

Cheers for the replys, got it booked in for thursday, 4 days before the warranty should run out!

Heated windscreen? is this standard to all Freelander? As I dont think I dont have this. How do you switch it on? I dont see any button for windscreen heater on my Freelander

my local lr dealer said they were fitted to some for a short while but due to problems whith them they stopped fitting them.

How close to the truth this is I don't know, it's just what I was told.

I have an 04 TD4 Freelander and it only has a heated rear screen.

It was part of the winterisation kit which included the heated screen and mirrors and fuel burning heater.

I think fitted as standatd on HSE spec.

Hi,
Mine is a 04 TD4 SE spec and it has the heated windscreen and the fuel burning heater, have only had it 3 months so dont know if it was standard or if the "previous" had it added as a factory fit option as they had it from new, it had done 106k miles in just under 3 years with a full landrover dealer service history, so i`m thinking reps car bought new with a few bells and whistles, lots of motorway miles so hopefully not as much wear, the reason for this is I do a similar amount of miles and my car is dealer serviced about every 4 months. but then again I could have bought a time bomb ready to go off when warranty runs out, come to think of it whats that ticking coming from the drive?

Regards

My Petrol V6 has one, dont rate them that much actually but suppose every little helps on frosty morning. Found this blurb on another site:

"A heated windscreen, previously available only on the Freelander V6, is also now available in conjunction with the fuel burning heater. A winter pack, consisting of the heated windscreen and heated front seats is now available on Freelander Td4 GS models (heated seats being standard on the Freelander ES and ES Premium derivatives)."

even on the HSE models made after 55/06 plates i think stopped having webasto FBH and heated front screens due to issues with them!

B****rds wouldnt change it  said it was a stone chip, when i asked if a stone chip would take out a whole panel or just a few lines he iffed and butted and said landrover wouldnt touch it with stone chips!! so it looks like i`m moving the steering wheel to a left hand drive, or it is going to suffer a serious stone chip accident very soon.

Mine has heated front seat but not heated windscreen unless they both woking with the same switch as heated front seat. I think I should try tommorow morning...:D

If your windscreen is heated you will be able to see heating elements in the glass. No elements - no heated screen.
