Hello all, newbie here, have just purchased a 2004 range rover L322 4.4 v8 vogue and I love it, however... It does have a little issue, the Sat nav screen had been smashed by the previous owner (naughty child having a tantrum) the screen still powered up and the back light was very bright, I bought a replacement head unit from flebay and installed this today but sadly the screen is completely blank, I can see a slight change in the contrast when I turn on the ignition, but no picture? I tried removing fuse 49 for 20 mins and still no change, I then checked the nav computer in the boot and it when I press the eject button the power light comes on but there doesn't appear to be any cd in it... Could this cause the screen to not load? Everything in the rear compartment is perfectly dry and looks in good order so I am really stumped, the radio works and the buttons on the head unit work I just can't see what I am doing! Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks Pete

I don't know about the L322 but the P38 sat navigation does that when the navigation computer in the boot is disconnected or has lost its flash memory (flash memory can be wiped by disconnecting the battery before the navigation computer has powered down - the light on it going out)

Thanks for your reply, I thought it may be this, everything is connected in the back so I'm guessing it needs a the firmware reinstalling, any ideas as to how I go about this?

when it happened to my P38, I found out that there was no one left in the world that can re-flash the software in the nav computer.. but I found guy in Latvia I think it was, from ebay who could reflash later versions.. so said he would try mine. I paid to ship it to him and reflash it and asend it back. alas, the later one didn't work with the system in the P38.. he even refunded me. a nice guy. I was sceptical but thought I have nothing to loose, and I didn't.

this might point you in the right direction !!

Yeah, I had a look and it seems you can reflash the mk4 but not the mk3 model I have, so I guess I have 2 choices, upgrade to the mk4 and reflash or rip the whole lot out and throw in an android system, the only thing with putting in an android system is I'm guessing I will no longer have the 4x4 screen, not sure if that is an issue.

Had a dig online and just got even more confused, it seems fitting an Android systems requires rewiring the speakers and trailing huge cables... Not ideal... So was thinking of just upgrading to the mk4 as per the link you sent, however I am not sure if I have the mk3 or mk4 Sat nav computer as from what Google images brings up they look identical and there is a mk4 for sale on eBay that looks the same as mine, so wondering if anyone knows how to identify what mk mine is and if it is a mk4 how do I download the firmware?
