I know, this is a very hard lesson learnt. And only way I can see out of it is to diy the job with my friend. I love the car.

As long as it was dated during a work day and week when hey we're open to public etc and working on it as a proper job rather than a project on the side for a friend vat should be charged

if your vat registered all paid work is vatable ,but they may not be

Should really have kept the running one unless that was even more **** up ?

I hated the colour lol and as much as I love the 3 door models I found it very painful to get the seatbelt from soo far behind me, the faults were Temp gauge broken, car was stiff on full lock in both forward and reverse, but it is still going.

This place is mostly a 1 man band and is mainly a Mondeo breakers / repairers but the guy said about how many of these K-Series HG's he had done and that he could do it all in for £450, but the bill grew as it became more apparent that my friend I bought it from got ripped off when she bought it, as the coolant pipes were half blocked with SOLID stuff in them and then I had to pay £60 to get the pipes all cleaned out, then spark plugs were added to the bill and the a distributor and rota arm, etc...

Forgot to add a water pump got added to the bill plus other parts I can't remember off the top of my head.

Never trust a shady looking garage is my advice for next time, he most probably lied

Either way if you have a receipt and he's vat registered but not paying you have a good case
