Except me of course for I'm eternally young :D and only 27.

It isn't just landyzone though is Vince/James? LRUK aren't very happy about the size of your groups either LROAC & Pro Trax - Land Rover UK Forums

I think Vince Cobley nails it with his response.

Mike

Firstly I never stopped to talk to you as I was not on the trip, secondly we were running 2 groups 5 Jeeps led by a 110 and 4 others led by a Disco total 11. This I can confirm by the bookings so I do not know where your 16 vehicles come from?. We normally run 10-12 vehicles in our groups split into 2 convoys travelling 1 mile apart and each convoy led by an experienced instructor. Also one group was a Jeep club and the smaller group LRO readers, obviously the jeeps wanted to be separate any way so another reason to keep apart

Unfortunately just before you met the group one of the lead group vehicles had a problem and the mechanic was leading the 2nd group so he caught up to help, after passing you they distanced them selves again as usual.

Please get your facts correct or hve the courtesy to ask why first, we have been operating in Wales for several years and have done more than most over the years. We have probably done more than most to repair damaged lanes, work with farmers and councils etc and never had a problem at all. Unfortunately you just happened to meet the group at a point where circumstances saw them come together, it is not our aim to travel in big groups etc. Like you some have a thing against "commercial operators", well believe me I could make more money keeping the 2 instructors back at base and training over the weekend. But then how do newcomers get introduced to greenlaning and taught how to respect them, recognise them and leave damaged ones alone? You will never see us on a lane liable to be damaged or badly damaged, we go for the more scenic routes.

Have you been at the Sanatogen? NURSE! He's out of bed again.

Dear heart, I'm not here to make friends. For a start I don't have a beard and moreover I am not a member of the Campaign for real ale. I'd have no chance.

I didn't say you were here to make friends i said from your demeanour that you would struggle to find someone to go laning with without you paying them.
Whats wrong with having a beard? and whats wrong with real ale? i'm guessing you drink stella or some precessed ****e like that!
personally i drink whisky/whiskey when i have a night i am not driving.

I'm not sure how many times I have to say it but there was NO DAMAGE. None. Based on what you've said, there'd be a little man in a high vis gilet with a clipboard counting off the number of cars using the valley and closing the road when 17 cars went through in a year.

To be honest i think the use of lanes for gain should be better regulated if people are taking large groups out as it is clear these people can't self regulate they **** it up for all the people who can drive and navigate for themselves grow up a bit and don't take the childish temper tantrum ' Based on what you've said, there'd be a little man in a high vis gilet with a clipboard counting off the number of cars using the valley and closing the road when 17 cars went through in a year' rout it makes you look thick

BTW - we had all the things you describe as that was in the joining instructions.

i carry all of the things i mentioned above as part of my everyday kit in my landy plus more
Next!

i just want to clarify how £110 is cheaper than the maps of the area? also i would like to know who underwrites there insurance as public liability on it must be huge considering what it is

That in itself is flawed as ****... isnt it?

I think Vince Cobley nails it with his response.

You forgot to mention the reply to his response....

"Vince,

thanks again for the reply Jeepclub thread is here http://www.jeepclub.co.uk/topic.cfm?id=3767 so you can read it if your interested. But the pertinent quote from a Rachel Buckley is:-

"I agree, the lanes and scenery were great.

But, and a big BUT, I was uncomfortable (and a bit embarassed to be honest displaying my JeepClub stickers to the ramblers/locals) with the fact that quite a bit of the time we were in a nose-to-tail convoy of between 13-15 vehicles during the course of the 2 days.

I have always had it drilled in to me, and have laned in the past with friends who have respected, the importance of keeping laning groups small, perhaps to a max. of 5 or so and well spread apart. I would have expected the organisers (Protrax), having been so successful with the number of attendees for this May outing, to have supplied 3 guides and split us into groups of 5, leaving a respectful 10-15 min between each group.

Our 2 groups (one of Jeeps and the other of Landies, Range Rovers and a Toyota) all too frequently morphed into a single presence due to a lack of knowledge of the directions between and on routes we were using by the guide bringing up our Jeep group to the rear, necessitating that we stayed close behind the group in front for directions.

Seeing what I thought easy rectification, OS maps of the local area were bought in Bala, and offers made to then help with the 2nd day by marking them up and co-navigating with the 2nd guide so the groups could travel with a more respectable gap between them. Alas, the offer wasn't taken up and we continued to create quite a formidable presence through the 2nd day as well.

We also put our trust in the guides that the routes are open and not ROAD CLOSED?

I really do welcome these sorts of laning events organised by commercial 3rd parties and hope that my comments are considered constructively by Protrax for the next well-attended outing they run. I suspect it wasn't only me, but JeepClub organisers as well, who had higher expectations for such a premium-priced event.

I'll now slink off and stand in the corner

Rachel"

So if you ever get stuck for someone to lead a small group in the Welsh hills give me a shout, I can read a map even if Jeep drivers can't ha ha !!

Regards

Mike

And that concludes the case m'laud

Maybe she should join the green element like you lot. They all get up in arms the moment someone uses a road quite legitimately too. No one menioned any damage or bad behaviour or is it now the impression of damage and bad behaviour that is just as bad? You people have lost track of reality. Really, you have. Too politically correct for words.

BTW it is also considered bad practice to WALK in big groups as well.

Whenever we're out walking with big groups we split into smaller groups of 4-8 and take different routes.

(4 is a minimum for safety reason, so over 8 we can split but 7 can't be)

and no, I don't have a bobble hat, I don't like the term 'rambler' but sometimes use the term because it's easier than trying to explain in detail.....

I aint politically correct..... I drink lager, watch porn, have 2 fookin uneco land rovers,a coal fire,I smoke, more tattoos than you can shake a stick at and look like Al Murray.

The point you appear to have missed over and ****ing over again is....a ****ing great convoy of 4x4's looks ****ing bad and WILL damage the lanes.

When 1 person disagrees with another its clear to see that one person is wrong but when 1 person disagrees with a dozen others surely its obvious who the arsehole is?
