Yet again my sodding hand brake is sticking on. This appear to be happening at 6 monthly intervals, especially when the weather is cold/damp. After the rain storm the other day the sodding thing is at it again.

Last time this happened, about 4 month ago, it had now levers, springs and adjusters on both sides.

Has anyone found a way to prevent this annoying problem?

is your handbrake cable fraying inside its protective cover and then not releasing had this with an old mondeo mk3

when it is weather like this mine sometimes gets it, I park on the flat and just leave the handbrake off so does the wife with hers but hers is in the garage:tea:

Its usually ok after a strip down and clean of the drums. Its just really annoying. I have not had this issue with other cars that I have owned, so put it down to crappy design on the Freelander.

I left the rubber grommets on the back plate of , to see if it would let a bit more air and water when it is wet to wash the dust out on my wife's car and she has not said anything about it sticking yet when she does put it on.

If it holds on one or two clicks it's adjusted up far to much and may be the cause of your problem.

It holds enough so that the car don't roll on a slight incline. It holds nothing once its in gear (auto box). just dare not put it on properly as I know it has a habit of not coming off again. :D

Experimenting on your wifes car ....sounds good...'never touched her brakes officer, no idea how that happened' :D:D

think that will have to be the plan, get it stripped, cleaned and freed up again, then not use the sodding thing at all.

Update : Pin missing from OSR break drum, shoe click was loose in the drum. New fitting kit and job done!
