My Disco 2 hand brake is grabbing at around 100kph - not all the time but every now and then and causes horrible brake burning smell and requires re-adjustment. Only adjust it the bare minimum to hold on a gentle slope or really grabs badly

I am told that this can be fixed by fitting a spring to the drum end of the cable same as on the Disco 1. The old friend of a friend repair so dont know how good a fix this is in reality

Can anyone confirm the P/N of the spring from the disco 1 and if this is a viable repair.

have you opened the drum and checked for worn shoes or oil build up or broken springs ? i had the same problem on a td5 defender and there was a thick grease like build up on the shoes (from a previous oil leak ) so a good cleaning with petrol and was good as new . i would do a full rebuild with new parts ,shoes, springs and adjuster if you dont see anything wrong with it
