evening all,
hope all your landies are running in tip top fashion ;),
am not sure if this is the correct tread but fingers crossed,

halfords offer a trade card to those of us that are in the trade, or are self employed etc etc....
halfords parts disco-count (discount) can be upto 80% on parts and tools.

couple of weeks ago i brought form the a service kit for my 300tdi and the total was under a tenner. :)
and parts are always oem, availble 7 days a week cant really go wrong.
even a calicum battery which was in last months lro at just over £120 work out at £67.

the card is easy to obtain and from what i know some of the weekend staff will let you get one with out to meny question (;) nudge nudge wink wink ;))
 
I have a trade card, had it when I had my own business and kept it since. It's great for tools because the pro range are top quality, and for the most part come with a lifetime warranty.

However the parts are crap quality, and the terms OEM Specification, and OEM quality need to be distinguished between. Specification means it's made to the same sizes etc, quality is another matter completely.

For example, none of their filters would be block exempt.

I'd still stick with a known brand on the parts side, but I get cost prices as I work for a factors anyway, so I am biased I admit.
 
ahhhh, the filters are usally crossland or fram, the bits i got even thou they wer in halford boxes had fram oil filter no side and same with air,

I bought a calcium battery in there the other week and it was meant to be £109. I got it for £80. I usually get a bigger discount on standard batteries so tend to go for them.

£2 light bulbs are only 40p each though.:)
 
Generally Halfords stuff is excellent quality.

bought a rad weld the other day, shelf 4.95, I paid a quid, lol winner :D
 
I had the first one from our local store and it still scans every time ( told a lot of the new ones they have to type in the numbers )

Use them alot for small bits but would NEVER buy engine parts off them have had to many bits fail in the past.

I have seen me going in there buying say 5 items and it comming to less than one of the expensive items.
 
I'm a bus driver, walked into halfords wearing my uniform, told the manager that I was re training as a mechanic with my company and that my manager told me to buy my tools there and that I would get a trade card, 10 minutes later, walks out with trade card=result!
 
wiper blades, £22.99 paid £5.99 :D

but its only on there own brand ones though as it only knocked a quid of the bosch ones :(

Usually better cranking power and have a longer life span. 5 years warranty on em instead of 3.

i love my trade card.. however when i go in the local shop, its like the discount is coming out of the managers pocket! he hates it, his face drops as soon as i walk in! weirdo..

My son has one, which is why I picked up on this thread,had one yesterday,107 reduced to 72, 4 years guarantee,
I plan on buying a 110 next year so will swap this battery onto that one when I get one

That manager has probably got a target to make,and giving you that discount just makes his target harder to do
Same for most retailers these days,my son worked part time for Currys, he still had a target,set by suits in head office,which was to my mind unachievable,which it proved to be,and as such,after numerous warnings, you could see he was going to be sacked, so I told hin to walk, and not let them sully his CV,huge turn over of staff, I was glad he went in the end.

Not having a pop or anything just give you a possible answer to his happiness to give away his target so to speak.

No not really.

No trade card, potential customer goes else where instead, so £0.00 for Halfords and towards targets.

With a trade card the store is still making sales and bringing money they otherwise would likely not see a penny of.
