Gentle men I have no drive on the rear axel on my 1994 200tdi I can hold the drive shalf with one hand and turn each wheel, without the shaft moving at all.

have you lost drive unless in diff lock are when holoding prop is one wheel turning opposite to other

I jacked the rear up so both wheels were off, I got under and held the propshaft and turned the off side wheel and the prp stayed still while the wheel spun

I then dropped the wheels so that the off side wheel was down and only the near wheel was off got hold of prop and tried to turn wheek but would not move unless I let go of prop

it will do if other wheel free to spin itself ,if with prop held and other wheel held it still spins ,then half shaft or diff

Oh ok yes thought you might say that. Yeah one side spins with the prop shaft the other side spins independently of prop shaft
