Ahh. Its showing the small gear stick is in the neutral position not in high. Then just driving using the normal gear stick. So it should be in h? Doing a road trip to wales this wk is it ok in h even up big hills?Normal road driving will be high ratio. The transfer box won't be in neutral. If it was the car would not go. Being in neutral in the transfer box will have the same effect as being in neutral in the main gearbox. If it's stuck you'll have to crawl under with with shares in wd40 and grease!!
as said you are in hi otherwise you would have no drive, low is only for more extreme circumstances not normal road drivingAhh. So its prob stuck in h but showin n on the sml stick. All new to me so thankyouas said you are in hi otherwise you would have no drive, low is only for more extreme circumstances not normal road driving
It won't be showing N on the small stick. It's movement is much less than a regular gearstick. There is a very remote chance it isn't connected or something. Most likely it's fine.So its prob stuck in h but showin n on the sml stick. All new to me so thankyou
if you push the stick to the left it should engage diff lock that is separate from hi/lo so can be done at whatever position the lever is forward or backI tryed it today and it does go in and out of high with abit of practace. when its in high the stick moves quite freely from left to right. Think thats why i thought it was in n. Thanks for all your help. Will be getting the wd out tho.
Or access to Google?Do you have an owners manual for your Motor?
Cheers

Yeah. Its not got tonns of power but seems ok. It will happly sit at 65mph but slows right down goin up hill. Carnt tell now wether its in H/L lol. CheersI wouldn't like to drive to Wales in low ratio.....like a slow boat to China, even on just the hills. There's something not quite right about the movement of the gearstick.
Just bin and had a play. You might be right about the linkage i can get it to go in H/L and diff but in all those positions the stick still moves around even tho its clunked into position. Pretty confident its in H at the mo so i'll pop it in the garage and get them to have a look. Thanks for your time.Moving to the left (whether in Lo Hi or Neutral) should be engaging the diff lock - NOT for normal road driving at all, it will do damage to the drive shafts etc, and be a pig to handle. Hi range and NO diff lock (i.e. keep stick to the right) for normal use. If it moves 'quite freely' left and right I'd be wondering about the linkage being intact, but that another question - play safe for now and don't use diff lock on hard surfaces.
Get some loose surface in a friend's field and try out Lo range (you'll soon see why you wouldn't normally use it on the road), and diff lock which can reduce chance of some wheel spin, but needs loose surface to allow for lack of differential rotation between axles while cornering etc. Enjoy, A
If you can do 65 then you are in highYeah. Its not got tonns of power but seems ok. It will happly sit at 65mph but slows right down goin up hill. Carnt tell now wether its in H/L lol. Cheers
