If it has fuel at the injectors and wont fire with easystart then it's got to be compression.
Check valve clearances, timing marks still line up.

yeah is timing okay, worth checking i would have thought, and get a compression tester see whats what

I did them twice over when I replaced the head, and again when it failed to start.

As I said earlier, I've narrowed it down to compression.

Yeah I think I would check compression. Obviously diesel needs good compression before anything happens. I take it the bores looked good when the Head was off Andy?
Might be worth just chucking a whole engine in if the bores or rings are toast.
Does it sound like it turns over much faster than normal?

Ah ya beat me to it. How about an engine swap Andy? could always give you a hand with it. I've got engine hoist. We could do it in a day.

Cheers Paul, I am hoping to avoid that sort of drastic action.
The bores were all ok when I had the head off, there was a slightly mysterious bit of damage to the top of no3 piston.
I'm considering a complete landy swap when I get it running again.

Seems strange it won't run at all. Does it try to fire? Defo try and do a compression test. It will help rule out major surgery. If it got really hot there could be an issue with the block.
Is the turbo ok? hasn't lost some vanes damaging the piston or valves in the process?

It has tried to fire a couple of times, but no go.
Once the batteries are charged in going to have another go at it, and then get a mechanic friend to have a look at it.

wicked i am a go for the 10th aswell, me and my bro.

DTS did you get you car started then or got a ride or something?

Hoping I'll be ok for the 10th as well, I'm waiting for some taller shock mounts to arrive for my new rear shocks that are even bigger :D

Oh no, why?

I can't afford to run 2 vehicles. I have a Nissan Leaf as my daily run around which is much better than the Freelander around London and is very cheap to run.

I have driven the Freelander maybe 2 miles in 3 months other than using it for our holiday.
