I gotta bust one , lol howd I check is the same number of splines on the end of the cv joint same as the ones on diff ?
 
Not a clue without going to look but I belive 300 tdi onwards are 24 spline ain't they ? Gonna do a quick search .

On it, just waiting to see what's said, I think a 300 diff will go on, and the slack is taken up with the prop cos td5 diffs are smaller a think...
 
Can't see the lazy gits at landrover making em different lol , is there a difference in ratios tho ?
 
Well if I rotate it from the input it feels like a bust tooth or two or something similar , looking around at maybe upgrading the front diff
 
I put a trutrac in the front, hardcore off road I'd say arb or Ashcroft or jam locker but the trutrac is fit and forget.
 
Not sure toying with the idea suppose it'll come down to cost really n what I can get passed the misses :)
 
You use your defender for work, it's an expense,

My landrover is for when I have to respond to breakdowns in the snow, my locker trutrac And special tracks all make the Landy better suited to that purpose. It's allowable against you tax for maintaining your van
 
Fair comment still it's the misses not the tax office I gotta convince lol , thinking maybe a 4 pin as it don't get used for off roading that much , but depends if I can find a locker for a reasonable price then I'll give it a whirl
 
Sod it think am gonna go with a std one this time and see about an upgrade later lol , 4x41 has a few in just need to find time to go get one

Give it another oil change if you don't find metal in the oil you should be good for a bit, when mine went and I dropped it it looked like my diff pan had been used to catch shaving of a metal milling machine,
