I need to do the track rod ends on the steering arm and thought I’d be able to get some greasable ones the same as I did for the TD5 Defender but I’m not having any luck. I thought I’d found some but they came as part of a full heavy duty kit and seem to be advertised differently between retailers, some say they’re greasable and others don’t mention it and none of the photos show grease nipples .

Has anyone ever got hold of any or don’t people bother having greasable ones? Or could they safely be made to be greasable?

you wont find any standard greasable joints ,but then the non last long enough in any case

The trouble is, the rubber (not rubber..) boots rot out nowadays before the joint wears.... :(
Talking to my MoT garage recently, he told me that the system does allow for the boots to be replaced provided that the ball joint itself is in good order.
Obviously it depends on how long the boot has been left in a damaged state and consequently how much grit and dirt has found it's way into the ball joint.
For the costs involved, it would seem to be better practice to replace the track rod ends complete.

They’ll get replaced anyway, it’s just I’ve always opted for greasable ones. If the standard ones are ok I’ll go with them
