Re lift pumps, you can tell if you need a spacer or not by looking at the side of the block, also the OE part is made by Delphi, they don't cost that much. I wouldn't trust a Bp pump, lack of fuel pressure from the lift pump will cause all sorts of problems and will have you running around in circles trying to find the fault, of course you would never suspect your brand new pump that still delivers fuel.

Yeah I originally replaced the original lift pump with a Bearmach one but with walking into this problem after running the engine a couple of times in the garage I just wasn't sure if it was the new lift pump or not and at the time I had a BP lift pump kit which I bought a while back as I snapped a fuel pipe the kit comprised of a lift pump,a length of pipe and a couple of clips so I used the lift pump just to try but still had the same problem so i refitted the BP pump then decided it was the FIP and or injectors at fault so decided to get them done :)

Collected the 90 yesterday from the diesel specialist drove it on the M-way on the way home first time on the M-way since fitting the new to me engine and it ran great, they found the pump all slugged up inside and when they changed the fuel filter there was some brown stuff in the filter which I was a bit surprised at as the filter was only changed when we fitted the new chassis in February this year, only done about 1,000 miles if that between fitting the chassis and fitting the new to us engine then probably another couple of hundred miles since fitting the engine till now, the tank was replaced with a new tank when we fitted the chassis aswell but the specialist advised on replacing the filter again after doing a couple of hundred miles and if the brown stuff is still there drain and clean the tank out

I no son off roaded it twice prior to fitting the newer engine in so hoping the tank hasn't got anything in it then I will be
