Hi everyone , i have probaly made a huge mistake but i have just purchased my dream car a Range Rover P38 4.0 se , i have no mechanical knowledge and im already thinking im out of my depth , i have an EAS fault already , i realy dont know what to do with it , can someone please steer me in the right direction , bearing in mind i can change a wheel and thats about it

Yep need a bit more info on what it is and isn't doing - what your concerns are etc....

:welcome2: btw and no you haven't made a mistake a Range Rover is a great car - just a little misunderstood really!!

:welcome2: Read the how to at the top of the page. Download RAVE then go through it and begin to understand. You will need to be able to do that before anyone can give you instructions to follow.

Cheers lads im in Rushden Northamptonshire , the fault came up as EAS fault , then slow 35mph max , the whole suspension has sunken down and its like driving a bouncy castle now . there was a hissing noise which im imagining isnt a good sign

Had a look a RAVE , way beyond me im afraid , will driving it with suspension down cause long term problems i.e getting it to a garage ?

If you can hear hissing in a way it's a good sign as will be Easyer to find leak.

If you feel you can't do it yourself and it sounds like you can't. Get it to a reputable garage ASAP you are not supposed to drive around on the bump stops. You could damage something on the car as well as your spine and fillings.

If you need a set of front or rear bags as a heads up around £67 each must fit as a set like you do with shocks and average of an hour each side talking )250 plus vat fitted if that helps no more !!

cheers mate , gonna take to a mechanic and hopefully it will be a nice cheap job , nobody said owning a range rover was going to be easy , i thought they just meant the mpg !!!

Not to frighten you that's if bags it gets a bit more expensive if valve block and you can't do it but hopefully unlikely .so don't jump the gun just yet

ill see what mechanic has to say , atleast noone has told me its terminal !!! fixable i can live with , just gutted cos i love it already

I had some work done at my local land rover dealer last week. the guy picked it up from my house!.

When I icked it up later in the week. He said it was the first p38 he had ever driven and was really supprised how good the ride is. They refered to it as 'the classic' all week. It is aparantly a long time since they had a p38 in at the main dealership.

Mine was laso the only one with mud on it!

get over this blip, read RAVE and get friendly with your mechanic. you will love it.
You will have lots of jobs to do.
