Ok then how long to replace rear springs?4 hrs?

im gunna get a ratchet ring spanner to make it easier but have ta squeeze it in after work.I got 4 hrs light .Shall I do the shocks while im there and do they fit easy.

the rangie was fairly ok if rusty but me fender is in good nick.
Ill get new bolts so i dont have to use rusty nuckles...:D

you could do both rear springs and shocks in less than 4 hours. its the fronts tht take a bit more time.

Feck the ratchet spanner, you can get a 1/2 ratchet between the springs, that is when the weight is removed from the landy, and fit socket on inside the spring.
Then undo till hearts content.
I did this on me RRC to remove axle and same to 90 to remove that axle.
That was with +2" blue hd springs, dunno if standards will be different:rolleyes:

yes.

is that it 4 bolts per side.
looks easy.if i lift it and take the weight off do the springs drop out the chassis....

un doo the two spring clips
shocks 2 bolts 1 each end....job done???

yer the spring just has a retaining plate at the bottom which is 2 bolts and then that just lifts out once the vehicle is jacked up. shocks just hav a nut at the top and one at the bottom.

Aye. Slacken wheel nuts, Stick a jack under axle, pump it up, axle stand or summit under the chassis, remove wheel, undo the 2 bolts holding the retainer on the bottom then lower jack until ye can pull the spring out. Fitting is just the reverse.
The shockers are a piece o' **** anaw. Undo bottom nut, remove the bushes and washers and place them in a line the way they came off (makes it easier to know which way they go back on). Then undo top nut (notin' which way the bushes etc fit). Refittin' is the reverse again then just torque yer nuts up;)

This is interesting - one of the things my Landy failed it's MOT on, was that one of the rear springs isn't correctly seated at the top. Looking in the good old Haynes manual, it says you need a spring compressor to get the rear springs out - is that not the case if I follow the above instructions?

Ian.

If ye jack the axle up and stick an axle stand / breeze blocks under the chassis then lower the axle on the jack ye should get it out from there... that's the way ah've always done it anyways;)

Forgot tae mention undoin' the shock furst and chockin' the other three wheels;)

i was going to chock the front then lift the arse end up and sit it on the axlestands on the rear cross member takeing the weight off the axle.Like an axle change

Ye'd be easier stickin' the stands under the chassis in front o' the axle... unles thur big huge yins mate;)

Dunno if ye've got an ARB or not, but that might have to be disconnected anaw to get the axle low ennuf;)

..ok so the triangle that fits to the axle has to be taken off.and yes i got some big stands fer the lorry.....

nearly squished me fingers on spring compressors doing the honda...

Ye can leave the A-frame attached (triangle bit). The bit ah was on about was the anti roll bar (if fitted).
If yer stands are big enough, then stick thum under the rear x-member;):D
