Just treated myself to a gopro 4 black, can I upload video/photos to my iPad to view and edit while I'm away from my computer, any connector recommendations please.

I don't think you can import photos directly to your iPad from the GoPro. But stand to be corrected. I also have a GP4 & GP3 and am interested in others thoughts.
You can edit on the iPad by using the app iMovie. If you can resolve the remote upload issue.

I was just about to post a question about GoPro's and found this thread which is handy.

I don't know the answer to your question by the way sorry, but I'm looking to buy the hero 3+ Silver as I've seen it around for less than 200 quid. Is that pretty good, or should I hold out another month or two for prices to drop further?

I would mainly use it on motorcycle rides, the odd greenlane, mountaineering, and dog walking. I guess it would just be a fun toy to mess about with and make videos of my occasional adventures. It just seems an awful lot of money for a toy!

Are they really worth it?

I have read since that you can, just not sure if the iPad i have will be fast enough the the GP4, and if you need a special/decent connector. anyone with any experience of GP your input would be useful regarding what setting etc.

I have a gopro hero 4 which I use with my iPhone, there is an app available which allows remote viewing and gives you the ability to upload you footage from the camera without needing any connectors (uses wifi)

Im just looking at buying a 4 black, but heard the 5 is on its way with 8k recording and twice the fps on 4k recording so holding on for that :)

Make sure your computer is up scratch, my Mac struggles to replay without chopping,

Assuming that's the gopro app, will look into it a bit more. Only just got it and not had much time to play with it.

You can view and download straight through the app to yoir phone or ipad and also control settings, see what it sees, start and stop recording and turn it on and off really usefull feature :)

I usually download onto my laptop for any editing though as there quite large files especially at 2.7 /4 k which even the beastiest of computers will struggle with

But yes it can be done

What settings do you use, lower settings I guess will help the computer cope? Will be used mainly for off road/laning.

Ive got a 3+ black and usually use either 1080 p wide view 48 fps or 2.7 k 24fps if Im not going to be filming for long time periods as it uses loads of memory you can always reduce resolution after filming though. You cant increase it

Why do you think you need it, the picture quality on the 3 is excellent, the file sizes will be huge on that so you'll either need a massive memory card which won't be cheap or shoot short videos

The 4 only just came out the 5 will be a while and even longer untill tv's can keep up.

well the high frame rate is what we want so that we can slow it right down for action shots.

We are kitting up to make a mountain biking video using a variety of drones, hand held cameras (on stabilised gimbals) and a few still cameras.

Only for a laugh. But if your going to do it you might as well do it the best you can! Besides I can use the gopro for work purposes when doing site inspections etc.

Ive heard rumours it should be coming out in spring :) Ive got a cheaper action camera that we are going to do a few trial runs with.

hi

sorry to ask but does it also depend on what model of ipad you've got plse

I've got the ipad 4 with the lightening connector and wondering if it's compatable with the go pro 3 or 4 please

also still looking at these external ipad hard drives and wondering if it can be done by transferring it onto the external hard drive so it saves the ipads internal memory then using bluetooth or wifi to watch it on the iPad via the hard drive

am I right in saying as newer models come out the go pro 3 should drop in price as previously mentioned seems to be suffice for inside the car with regards to quality etc, I assume u can read a number plate etc clearly enough with the go pro 3 or would u advise the 4 or 5

sorry askimg such daft questions and thks as always

The 3+ does 120fps
They constantly bring out new models when the current one is perfectly adequate , same with TVs, digital SLRs

The constant need to upgrade is now ingrained in us, what I do is wait for the new one then buy the old one at a discount
