Previous owner broke the glow plug. Now it's disintegrated, car broke down and the car is being recovered back home.

No thread left as it has been butchered. Anyone know a person who can drill and helicore an new one in the head nr Ashford in kent ?

Thanks

I would have thought the head will need to come off, so would it not just be easier and cheaper to get a replacement head?

That's the route I'd take. A working TD4 engine can be had for a couple of hundred quid. It's not worth spending hundreds, trying to repair a damaged head, when a good replacement can be had for so little.

Well I thought you might say that !

If I change the head how easy is it. Do I need to re-time it or is it a case of setting to tdc and replace?

I know a man that can do the job in place but he lives in Carlisle look up extract engineering he can come to you but charges £75 to remove it and £35 per hour travel

Can my one recommend a workshop manual?

I just need the procedure to replace the head on the freelander with the torx settings.

Thanks

Have you tried Rave? That's the original LR workshop manual. You can download a copy here....

http://www.mydocz.com/Landie/rave2000.iso

You need to open that file with something like "Virtual CloneDrive" (that's what I use) - the contents then become a drive letter on your PC (like a CD) and you can run the 'rave.exe' program which is a front end to a series of PDFs.

Only works on Windows - not on Mac/Linux (unless you can run in some Windows compatibility mode).
