So, my head gaskets are gone...I bought a complete top-end rebuild kit off of Atlantic British website...I'm thinking my heads are pretty straight as the Rangie has not overheated since I've owned it...If they are straight, should I still go the extra mile and take it to a machine shop to have the valve stem seals, springs and inserts replaced? And whatever else a machine shop does? I'm sure many of you have had experience with this...Thanks in advance

Thats what I was thinking...The machine shops quoting me $250 for the skim and "rebuild" of the head. Does that seem pretty reasonable?

why $ and not £ ? skimming of heads is around £60 pair it simple job and dont take long. as for valve stems then probably another £50. so around £125 or so about right depending on the garage.

Because I'm in the USA...Just looked it up and the British Pound is £1.500 to the US dollar(gotta love America haha)...guess they would be charging me the equivolent of £173...Should I look elsewhere as you are saying £125?
