Hi Giff. Can you put pictures on instead of videos. I'm on holiday and don't have enough bandwidth to view videos.
Cheers.

yes will do mate, will take some later

it seems to have smoke coming out of the pipe that fits into the hole near the vis

also around where the servo pipe fits into the pullem

hope you have a brill hol and weathers hot

Oil breather to plenum is a known contamination problem. Gunges up the viz valves. Usual cure is a catch tank...... Maybe after you got it running??? ;)

ive got the chance of a fully working mainfold/pullem for a very cheap price

seeing i modded mine because of the death rattle could that have a effect on the idle 02 readings?
if so would it be worth me getting this manifold ive been offered?

I can't see the O2 readings change by using a working plenum unless yours is leaking. However it's handy to have a spare ;)

cool ,hope you had a good holiday

was just thinking that maybe the ecu was thinking to much air in manifold since the valves and not now closed when rhe ecu qould think they are

but like you say a spare would be nice

The ECU doesn't work like that. The Euro spec KV6 uses a Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor or MAP sensor to measure the air entering the engine. It does this by assuming the engine is a vacuum pump. The ECU knows how much air is drawn in my the engine per revolution. It monitors the inlet manifold vacuum using the MAP sensor for short, giving air volume information. It then calculates fuel required, referring to all the other sensors for mixture corrections.
So in effect the plenum makes no difference, unless it's leaking air, giving inaccurate MAP readings.

``right where to begin

first off i thought i would have a look at this engine coolant drain plug i had never heard of , seeing i had dropped the coolant the other week but never used this plug i thought i better have a look

anyway very strange as when i took plug out coolant flooded out BUT it was green coolant !!! and the new stuff i put in is bright orange (and the coolant in the filler tank is still orange)

so i assume there must of been a air lock and the green coolant must of been some of the old stuff? anyway i think because of this a complete coolant change will be needed again just to be sure

next was to try my smoke jar thing i made to see if i can find any air leaks
the below vid shows the results

so think a new pipe is needed ,and maybe a new red clip thing it goes into????,as you can see ,the other day i got rid of the nice tidy sealant and just coated everywhere that i had plastic welded with a thick layer ,you will not see it once cover back on

any way then i started to play with the next thing in below vid,not sure what its called

but as you can hear towards the end theres def some bubbling/sucking noise ,i traced that back to another pipe ,the one i think is for the break servo that fits in the pullem right next to the vis

after seeing the vids do you think its prob these ?

also on second vid where i ask should it not still cut out when hole covered ???? as mine does not so does that mean maybe a leak in that pipe too?

cheers
griff

Griff. Don't worry about the engine stopping when you cover the copper pipe above the main throttle body choke. That copper pipe is where the engine gets its idle air. The idle speed is controlled by a small throttle plate valve connected to a stepper motor. This is known a the Idle Air Control Valve or IACV for short. If the engine speed needs increasing, the ECU opens up the valve to let more air in. By blocking the valve with your finger, you are stopping the air from going into the engine. By unplugging the small black pipe shown in the video, you are simply by passing the IACV so the engine can continue to run. ;)
This stalling is normal but I don't think your engine is stopping fast enough. Blocking the IACV should stop the engine almost instantly. This makes me think the engine is getting air from another source. I think the leak near the VIS motor needs fixing for the engine to run correctly, particularly at idle speed. A small hole in the manifold can often be appear insignificant at high engine speeds but becomes a real problem at idle speed. This, I is believe where most of your problems lie.

As daft as it sounds... yes. From what I've seen you have the ability to create an air bubble in the v6 engine, and not flush the old coolant out of the engine, if you don't undo the engine lower drain plug.

I cheated when I did mine. I disconnected the small pipe on the coolant reservoir and hooked it over the side of ma hippo. I then plugged the small hole in the reservoir and kept filling the reservoir with clean water until it ran clean from the small pipe over the side. I then drained the system correctly, flushed it a but and followed what I put above to fill/bleed etc. I did it this way to know where the water came from when taking pipes oft to drain it by seeing what colour it was.

well been away for a week as had some real bad news that my father had passed away suddenly :-(

Got back this afternoon ,wife had to go straight to work so to keep my mind off it i decided to make another but better smoke machine lmfao (and once finished it will make a brill efag lol)

Sorry to hear about your dad.

Have you had any success with the smoke machine finding the air leak?

thank you hippo

no not had chance yet ,got back to work and im working 12 hr early shifts for next 15 days ,lol will try asap when i get chance
