had a search couldn't find nout.

gearbox rattling when revved high in second, quite leaky transfer box, only just noticed the leak really, as it only apears to leak when in motion and not all over the garage floor when parked. my question is, will filling up with oil stop the rattle? and how much oil do they take?

Having no oil in it could definitely make it rattle. Fill it till it starts to overflow out of the filler hole.

when you take out the magnetic drain plug, apparently it's normal for some pieces of metal to be stuck to it, but if there's loads of it, then there could be damage!

change it. If you let them run out they fail large style. Like mine did, when i forgot to check the oil in it...

I have a good spare defender transfer box if you want it too, its currently in my way, if you decide you need it.

got 2 dead defender gearboxes too
