Electrics are not my thing, not got the patience. So please excuse the questions and my ignorance. Thanks for all the info guys.

According to Land Rover, P0666 is either a short in the solenoid/wiring or a faulty transfer box controller. If the solenoid & its wiring check out okay, you’re left with the ECU. Good luck.

Sorry, I don’t know the answer to that. I’m sure someone else will know? Even if you don’t need it coding to the vehicle, though, the replacement ECU would still have to be calibrated to your transfer box using a capable diagnostics kit, to take account of the degree of clutch wear for the actuator mechanism.

As a short circuit in the solenoid wiring is given as a possible cause for both these error codes, it might be worth checking this out first, including testing the resistance of the solenoid itself.

A resistance check between terminals 9 & 12 at the (largest) ECU connector (when disconnected, obviously) should give a result between 0.2Ω and 10.0Ω.

In case you thought you might remove it, note that the solenoid must be energised for it to be removed/replaced otherwise you won’t be able to engage/disengage it from the shift fork.
