What to breakdown every two weeks
Yep! Half tongue in cheek.
What to breakdown every two weeks
The AA are not very up to date in my experience. The issue is that some of the newer JLR products have smart alternators charging at around 15.8 volts, this as far as I can determine is not compatible with an AGM battery, it may be enough to cook it.
Hi
Funny enough I had a search out of curiosity , looks like the software for a lead battery and agm are different also it needs to be told that the battery has been changed
From what I can see if an agm hasn’t been fitted a normal lead battery should be fitted , alternator outputs are 14.8 Vdc so beyond the AGM Range
But indeed if the op is being told it’s ok that’s that then , just going from what I’ve read from many replies in FFRR forums
I know who I'd trust over hte AA or Halfrauds. 14.8V is a lot for a standard battery.
14.8 volts is the norm for a modern automotive Lead/Calcium battery fitted to almost all modern cars for the last decade or so.I know who I'd trust over hte AA or Halfrauds. 14.8V is a lot for a standard battery.

Hiya
Excuse my ignorance
So what’s the difference between a lead acid and an AGM
Is an AGM like a leisure battery?
AGM is Absorbed Glass Mat, like a Gel battery, there is no free liquid so they are unspillable and can be used at any angle. The down side is that they require a different charging strategy to avoid overheating, thus they require a lower charging voltage than a standard automotive Lead/Calcium battery. Good on sailing boats, IMO less good in cars.Hiya

Alternator or battery problem. alternator would be my best guess.Update
Well t lasted a day and gave up the ghost in middle of Lidl car park
Went to reverse into a space and nothing no reverse drive at all, tried to pull forward as I was now blocking the whole car park and no drive and locked in gear, turned off and on wouldn’t start but managed to get neutral and a couple of guys pushed me into a space
Then the bongs started
HDC inactive, park break faul, transmission fault limited gears only, terrain response faulty
Got the code reader out and was getting U0101 (00,87)
Cleared codes disconnected reconnected battery and bingo all running again, drove it for next 40 mins with no issues at all
So I took it to the train station this morning and as I went to reverse into space exactly same thing again
Going to book recovery truck for latter
It seems to happen in the first ten mins of driving
Any ideas?

Hi @paulh71
Indeed as mentioned check the battery , it would also be best to check ur TCM module
Remove the battery , behind it u will see 2 x modules , carefully remove the 3 x connectors and check the pins are dry / not green or any pins missing
Enclosed a pic of the modules , this is from my D3 so should be the same , also ensure the cover is put back properly
Front one is ur TCM and relates to ur fault code
U0101 - Lost Communication With Transmission Control Module
Also have u had it jet washed by any chance please , thks
Hope that helps

Thanks so much for the info mate
Yes I did run it through the hand car wash Monday eve after I picked it up from garage
I’ll let the Indy garage picking it up know what you’ve said
Thanks again
Paul
Thanks I will up date as soon as I knowUr very welcome , never know water may have got into the TCM module
Indeed Plse let us know how it goes
Very economical to run when on a flatbedI finally feel like a club member now
Very economical to run when on a flatbed
Does JLR still use the slogan 'the best 4x4 x far' ?
