Strange thing, I noticed a pool of oil below the drivers side front corner. On investigating it seemed to be coming from the shock absorber.
Anyway I've now removed and replaced the shock with a new one.
Inspection of the failed shocker seems to indicate the weld at the bottom has become porous or a pin hole has opened up.
Can't remember when I put the new 2" lift kit on but it can't have been more than 5 years ago so the shock has failed very soon.
These are the Britpart Super Gaz units. I've put the same on again but maybe I should have gone for a different brand.
Anyone else come across this? I can't recall ever having a shocker issue, not even during the years I was rallying.

It appears to be issue as it is listed for inspect on an MOT ,
although I've never owned or driven any vehicle thats had leaking dampers.

My disco is still on original, as was the RR which had lots of weight carrying duties.

The Mot looks for leaking shock fluid on the rod as the seals can go where the rod enters the piston. Which is what you would expect really.

As well as the old bump test which in my experience has been nigh on useless unless the shock is so far gone it is ridiculous.

I must admit I didnt notice any handling issues at all and when I pulled the shock it was clearly empty and doing nothing.
Maybe if it were a sports car it could have been noticeable.
