Needing to replace the front axle of my 1986 110 ex Army (military police) defender, have managed to get a good second hand replacement (newer model) axle with vented discs that I am currently stripping this down with the intention of restoring it and then doing a straight swap.... am an armature Machanic but have had a lot of practical experience over the last 25 years.... will trawl the forum for info and expect to find most, if not all the info I need on specifics.
