thas what confused me Taz, but no the handbrake worked fine when i popped the truck up onto the ramp, he then told me to leave it in gear too, which is fine, but the erratic driving - im not sure wether that could have knocked the box around if it was in gear maybe? its confused me too, but it drove before it went to the ramp, only the front left brake was binding..

Right well now im ****ed, the AA sent out some blokes called KartecUK as sub contractors, once picked up i had to drive the landy nto the back of the truck, and then the bloke proceeded to smoke, text, facebook, make personal phone calls, not wear a seat belt and drive like a ****ing maniac.

As a result of this **** poor driving, i now dont have a hand brake nor can i select hi-lo box...

What has this man DONE to me..

I'm not sure about the car, but I would be writing a letter of complaint to the AA. Not sure about the damage to your car (Not sure how a ride home can damage it), but certainly his lack of responsibility - particularly when representing the AA, is less than desired.

I would have thought they would only be insured for the recovery company to drive the vehicle on to the truck, if you'd have stoved the back of his cab in, or driven off the truck....

Did anyone actualy speak english ?.........

the same thing was the reason I left the AA for the RAC, it happened twice, I complained the first time, got apologies etc, etc, then 3 months layer, broke down, late november, 11.30 at night on an unlit dual carridgway, too an hour and a half to get recovered, there was me and my 8 moth pregnant missus, the subcontractor brought his 3 seat truck, with his girlfriend, so technically not enough seats for us all, despite the AA knowing I had passengers.

took me home, and dumped me car on the main road as he "couldnt get his truck down my street" despite having had a trck the same size down there last time.
that was enough for me, so far only ever had proper RAC recovery trucks (twice needed full lift).

Its an L Reg 90 with a disco 300tdi in it and was on a flat bed.. And fortunatly i havnt had to speak to anyone other than an english on the phone.. Yet...

I used to have only praises for the AA, but this might have done it for me really, thanks for sharing your experience mate, i might have to change come renewal day, are the RAC normally in good time?

How many straps did the guy put on your landy to hold it in place?

The handbrake cable feels veryyy loose, and the transfer lever moves, fairly normally i would say, you can put the gear stick into gear and hear it engage, but as i say, no drive due to the transfer beign in Netural.

Before you all start leaping out of the frying pan and into the fire, stop and think for a minute.

The AA and RAC both use subcontractors (often the same ones).

Greenflag, Brittania, Europ assist etc all use nothing but sub contractors.

How is switching companies gonna help?

I'm not defending the recovery guy here but at the same time I'm not gonna condemn him either. Having done the job for over 15 years I've had people moan about me driving too fast and when I've pointed out the speed I was actually travelling at they were then shocked and thought I had been going much faster.

If someone pulls out in front of the truck is it the recovery guys **** poor driving for making a jolt when he brakes and avoids the car or his **** poor driving for not hitting it.

I wasn't there so don't know thre real score. A lot of what was said about the contractor regarding loading the vehicle, texting, etc is all fair do's but without having witnessed his dodgy driving I wouldn't like to point any fingers.
