My brakes on my 300tdi are starting to have some really bad brake fade not filling me with confidence when driving much at all. Brake pedal goes down and slowly keeps going. I have taken the calipers off my project disco and cleaned and replaced pistons and seals and my plan is to replace the brake calipers along with putting in braided hoses and replace all the brake lines as they are in poor knick and besides when I try to split the joints something is going to snap so fancy replacing everything. The front seems straight forward access but has anyone replaced the full rear pipes et chows access to the T-piece and the lines? Any idea of time to set aside for the job? Might try upgrading pads too any good ones to look out for? Cheers for any help.

I thought master cylinder too but I cant see any cracks or leaks. Can you get a seal kit for these? I cant see any if I was doing the brake system makes sense to at least look at it!

The leaks will be internal and cause a loss of pressure into the brake lines. I would rebuild or replace the master cylinder and check the servo operation before replacing anything else. A loss of pressure in the lines or calipers would result in a visible leak of fluid.

It could be old brake fluid too? I change mine every other year - ATE Super Racing Blue from GSF Car Parts.

Cheers ill have a look at replacing the cylinder maybe too then for the sake of an extra £20. Looking forward to good brakes and seeing the difference with everything being new and braided hoses too going to try the blue racing fluid too , cheers for that. Well first I have to change the missus D3 wishbone arms since the stealers quoted somthing daft to do them so ill get round to my brakes soon. Cheers again
