Have you put live from battery to pin 5 of relay 12 to check if relay is duff. Or is that what the AA did? Pump will only run when glow lamp is on.
i havent and not sure about aa guy .
i have swapped relays around to check though and all is fine .

I know that's why I told him to crank as well we've had this conversation before mine only works with cranking the car but we will end that one here

On pre 1999 cars pump will only run with glows on or with engine running. On post 1999 cars pump runs with glows on, when cranking or with engine running.
Lets put it this way DON'T use a jigsaw. Personally i would remove tank. You can then check condition of brake pipes that run above it.
dropping tank is not viable , my parking is on the road .
Then i would suggest a little Dremel type tool with lots of cutting discs. Just barely going through the metal.

ps Once done, I resealed it around the edges with adhesive/sealant from B&Q that works on most things like metal, wood etc "Serious Stuff" or something like that.
