I had my 2001 td4 on a diagnostic machine today and i need a new fuel pressure regulator. Do you need to put the car on a computer to fit the regulator or can i just fit one myself:confused:

There is no mention in the workshop manual of any calibration/setup procedure after changing the fuel pressure regulator.

Hi,I got a hold of one from Bosch here in Germany, just noted the originalnumber stamped on it and ordered. I was also told that they can also gethold of the two small O-Rings and Gasket that cause a few problems.Be very careful with the microfilter at the end of it,very sensitive withdirt !Apart from all this it did not solve my problem, none starting when hot ?????Regards Peter

Camshaft sensor is often the culprit if it fails to start when hot but will when it has cooled.

Hi,Thanks for your repy but...............................It all began about 4 months ago, like i said will not start when its at operatingtemp. Then waiting for 19-20 minutes it starts and runs perfect! And has beenrunning apart from this problem for nearly Km 6000.Funny enough if i startthe engine straight away after stopping it,it starts ????5 months ago i renued a duff generator ,the copper rings and brushes wereturned into dust ??!I can`t imagine that having anything to do with my prob.Since then i have renued: ..........................Camshaft sensorCrankshaft sensorRail pressure sensor cable between sensor and ECU......done by LRRail pressure sensorPressure regulating valve on the HP pumpAll the injectors out and taken to Bosch ,cleaned and tested and leaktest, all four in order................refittedDid a leaktest myself............................in orderTwo pumps checked and renued filterI am now at an end,i have had the Diagnosis THING read out....NOTHINGI would be vvvery grateful for any idea or tip or anythingThanks Regards Peter

That's a hell of a list and seems to cover all the obvious known faults. Engine heat seems to be soaking into something after switch off and causing the problem. At least you can replicate the problem and I suppose it would be best to test/interrogate with T4 when the engine is hot and refusing to start. This could be one of those occasions when only a dealer can help.
