hi all
My freelancer 2 2010 cut out last week rac towed me back an gave me a report fault code p115a low fuel pressure suspected in tank fuel pump so I had freelancer recovered to a garage now they are saying the in tank pump has to be coded into the ecu an only land rover can do this does any one no if this is correct thanks

The in tank pump on a FL2 is only used to transfer the fuel across the two sections of the tank - it does not supply fuel to the engine.

The low pressure pump is a mechanical pump on the rear of the high pressure pump.

That fault code is set when the car thinks it is low on fuel in the tank and stops the engine running to prevent having to manually bleed the system in case of running out of fuel.

What was the fuel gauge showing when the issue happened?

Hi thanks for your help it was showing around a quarter of a tank the rac added a 2 gallon Gerry can an the gauge went up slightly

There’s an issue with the fuel senders which don’t register the correct amount of fuel and the issue is with the wiring in the tank.

Other thing to check is the in tank transfer pump is working as you may have fuel the one side of the tank and not the other

Hi how would I check the pump is working the garage is bringing the freelander back tomorrow to be honest I don’t think they have clue so they have just fobed me off

Easiest way to check is to see what fuel is in each side of the tank - should be equal each side

I’ve seen that when vacuuming the car a large round bung when I remove it how do I check fuel level has you have probably guessed not a lot of knowledge on the free lander thanks
