after swapping the battery yesterday the p38 has failed to start, through help of Kraig, who came over today we have narrowed the fault down to fuel pump, there is no fuel coming out of the fuel rail, i`ve tried jumping the inertia just in case but no difference, does anyome know if there is a hidden in line fuse that would blow or suddenly stop the fuel pump working, because up till i ran the battery low everything has worked grand, does anyone know how to bypass the inertia,? just to eliminate it as the cause.

cheers

what would the symptoms be other than no fuel at engine lol, i mean do they just give up the ghost or is it gradual ?

Hi Mate
Jumping the inertia won't work, there is no circuit running from the pump to the switch, (White and BLue Wire). The only wire that is showing a circuit on the switch is the one which goes to the BECM, (White and Purple wire). The other which then goes up to the FB again is showing no circuit (White and orange). I would trace the white and BLue wire to the pump as well as checking the ground point at the pump.
The only fuse for Pump is 39 in engine bay.

gotta be fuel pump, ill try get access to it tomorrow and get a 12v feed see if it had life, was a random thought reg the fuel filter being blocked i dont know if its been changed you see

ill let you know chief, though we both know it wont be the filter, if theres voltage issues but ill check it anyway, if only it was as simple a fix

Did you dissable the immobiliser? then try starting the engine, ive seen engines with the ems code correct on both and still wont fire, then what do i know...:p

I had a Discovery intank pump fail, when i took it out I found it had a built in filter which was blocked. Once cleaned it worked ok again. I expect the p38 one is the same. Look for a thread on here which details how to cut the floor to get access, instead of dropping the tank
