Couple of weeks ago my disco started struggling to start, then whilst out it in it it suddenly cut out on me and took some starting..Eventually i changed the fuel filter and it started up straight away, ran for a few miles, parked up.Came back to it and same thing happening all over again..Its slowly got worse, tried drove to Whitby yesturday (15 miles) and cut out once, took some starting but drove into whitby ok..Coming back there is a few hill climbs and cut out 3 times, each time took some starting..
Due to garage not being open i did run it low on fuel a couple of times..Is it possible ive also clogged up the new filter?..When turning ignition on the pump at the back does make a loud noise..Not a mechanic so dont want to be ripped of by a garage..Thanks.
Also when it does fire up it kicks out some horrible smoke.

Is it easy to do?..Its a T reg TD5...

Ahhh ...

Could be the injector seals/washers instead then ...

any signs of leaking anywhere?

Make sure that the air bleed valve in the fuel filter housing is doing it's job too ...

Been there and spent a fortune finding out the problem

Changed filter then the pump then the return valve then the injector loom but it was the injector seal and washers that fixed it

Good luck hope its s easy and cheep fix
