Had a slight issue with my 1999 1.8 petrol. Tick over fine but when pulling away. Coughing spluttering and no power. Had recent plugs, ht, sparkies and rotor arm/dizzy cap. Hopefully the issue is the fuel filter. But when I put my reg into euro car parts its an Inline filter.when I've searched online for the problem all the images and hopeful solutions show the same pump as mine and they have the in pump filter.... Kinda confuddled
 
I have a 1998 1.8 petrol. The pump and filter is in the tank under the rear passenger seat. An easy job to replace the pump & filter.
 
Well no changed the fuel pump and filter.all was well till today.started missing again but I had just been to jet wash.took dizzy cap off and there was slight oil and some solid green matter which I can't I'd.I've give it a clean and slight rub with sand paper on the contacts.so will see how it goes.
 
It could be an air leak into the manifold, which might account for the misfire. It could also be a failing O2 sensor or the cat on the way out. If it's the cat, then normally a good thrash just before the emissions test will show an improvement. ;)
 
I'm gonna get a sensor anyway to rule that out. I've looked for a leak but can't seem to find anything. Any pointers in where to look
