I have a VE FIP, but I know it was taken off the old engine without being timed. The engine was not at TDC – the pump was just unbolted. The new engine is locked at TDC.
Having read up and watched videos, I understand that fuel is supplied to each port in the pump on 90 degree rotations, so one rotation provides fuel to each port. Does this mean all I need to do is move the slot into position so I can get the timing pin into place, then I can check for rise with a dial gauge at the back bolt hole for accurate timing?
Or, does it have different setting on each rotation? I.e. the plunge effect being timed to the engine position? I don’t know the terminology here….
I know to set the timing of the pump when on the engine you need to find TDC which can result in several revolutions of the FIP. How many cycles does the FIP have, or it it just one for each 360 degrees?
If the answer is more than one rotation, how would i set up the pump off the engine? Everything i can find discusses timing by tweaking, not by realigning all together.
Thanks
